Decade Review: How has India cricket team played in the last 10 years?

If we ask a question to someone that how has the India cricket team played in the last ten years, then I am sure that everyone is going to say only one thing and that is “Good”. As in this article, we are going to have a look at a decade review of the India cricket team.

Decade Review-

Here we are going to have a look at how has the Indian cricket team played in the last ten years. In which we will discuss the year-wise performance of the Indian team. So let us get started with it. 

  • 2009-10 Indian Cricket Season- In this year the most critical series that took place was Australia in India, Sri Lanka in India and South Africa in India. Let us have a look at the performance of these three series that took place that year.
  1. Australia in India – This series contained 7 ODI matches with Australia which took place from 25 October to 11 November 2009 and from all these seven matches India won 2 matches only.
  2. Sri Lanka in India- This series contained 3 test series from which India won two times, next was 2 T20 matches in which India won one time, and the last one was 5 ODI matches in which India won 3 times.
  3. South Africa in India- This series consisted of 2 test matches and 3 ODI matches. In 2 test matches, India won one time, while in the 3 ODI matches India won 2 matches.
  • 2010-11 Indian Cricket Season- As we all know that in 2011 the ICC World Cup took place in which team India was the champion and Sri Lanka was runner-up. Other than that there were 3 International tours which were as follows-
  1. Australia tour- This tour took place from 25 September 2010 which consisted of 2 test matches and 1 ODI.
  2. New Zealand tour- The next tour took place on 4 November 2010 and this tour consisted of 1 test match, and 5 ODIs.
  3. West Indies tour- The next tour took place in early 2011 on 8 January 2011, which consisted of 3 ODI and 2 T20 matches. 

All these series were well played by team India and won most of the matches.

  • 2011-12 Indian Cricket Season- During this period Indian Cricket team played several tests, one day international and twenty20 matches and it was really happy to notice that India team won most of the matches and were better than other teams. The only issue during this season was ICC Twenty20 cup in which unfortunately India was not able to perform well and was not even in the runners-up list.
  • 2012-13 Indian Cricket Season- During this season ICC World, the Twenty20 cup took place from September 2012, which last up to March 2013. Although in overall championship team India played perfect matches but was not able to become the winner of this series and West Indies won it.
  • 2013-14 Indian Cricket Season- During this season Indian cricket team played 2 test matches and 3 one day tournaments with West Indies cricket team. After which they have some series matches for which they head towards South Africa. In all these series India played well and won matches.
  • 2014-15 Indian Cricket Season- During this season India played 3 International tournaments, which were the 2015 Dubai Triangular Series, 2015 Carlton Mid Triangular Series, and the 2015 Cricket World Cup and in none of these series India was able to win.
  • 2015-16 Indian Cricket Season- As you may know the ICC Test Championship took place from 1 September 2015 in which India was at the 5th number of the list topped by South Africa. During this championship, India played 27 matches. 
  • 2016-17 Indian Cricket Season- During this period India hosted bilateral series in between Afghanistan and Ireland. Moreover, during this season Indian team also played tours from New Zealand, England, West Indies and many more.
  • 2017-18 Indian Cricket Season- During this period Women’s International tournament was also played, which was won by Australia. During this time Women’s cricket team was able to make a good name in the country.
  • 2018-19 Indian Cricket Season- From 17 August 2018 to 29 August 2018 Indian cricket team played a tournament called Quadrangular series in which India won the tournament series. Other than that this season was called perfect season, as India won several matches during it.
  • 2019-20 Indian Cricket Season- During this season India played several tournaments such as ICC Cricket World Cup, IPL and many more and in all there series they played well. Next, they played the Caribbean tour in which they haven’t lose even a single match.
